Limestone and Neon Lamp

Polarity - serious / fun, lightness / heaviness, modern / ancient. The base is limestone, sourced from the breakage area of a quarry in Indiana. Indiana limestone is a literal and figurative building block in many industries, and yet is rarely used in furniture or home decor. It brings an innate uniqueness and megalithic quality to the project.

The neon tube is a manufactured material, but transcends its physicality and presents as a manifestation of pure light and color. A beam of floating plasma. The materials and forms combine into a polished, finished object which gives the lamp a playful timelessness, as if it were an artifact just being discovered.
